Wanted

Perfection in shoe form. I hoped that this Miu Miu bejeweled confection would go into production and it DID, but unfortunately it sold out in my size and the sales assistant I've been in contact with told me they're not receiving another shipment. DAMN! If anyone sees these in a 35.5 PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!! I will be forever grateful, really...forever.

Springing

I had today off and had no desire to venture out in this crazy snowstorm. Went through my closet and put together some outfits that I would like to wear once the weather warms up!

Jacket - Zara
Top - Gemma
Skirt - Club Monaco
Belt - Vintage
Socks - J.Crew
Shoes - Chloe
Sunglasses - Thrifted
Snakeskin clutch - Vintage
Necklaces - Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany's

I also made a ham and orzo frittata for lunch. Based off a Giada De Laurentiis recipe, but I changed up the ingredients because the original is pretty bland. You can throw anything you want in here, it's that kind of dish. I use yukon gold potato, black forest ham, onion, garlic, baby spinach and heavy cream..all of that makes for one very hearty meal.

3/4 cup orzo
6 eggs
7 oz diced black forest ham (or any other meat you'd like)
1/3 cup ricotta (I use part-skim)
1/3 cup heavy cream
1 small onion, chopped
1 cup yukon gold potato, medium dice
1 garlic clove, minced
2 red bell peppers, chopped
1 cup baby spinach
1/4 cup Italian parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Pre-heat oven to 375. Undercook orzo in boiling water, it'll finish cooking through in the oven. Saute diced potatoes until slightly softened, set aside. Add onions to the pan until translucent and add garlic for about a minute. Add baby spinach until wilted and let the veggies cool down. Whisk eggs in a large bowl, add all of the ingredients together. Transfer into 1 1/2-quart baking dish and bake for 25 minutes. Then turn on broiler until the top slightly browns. Let cool and then enjoy!

I've already eaten 3 slices today..oh boy.

High & Low

Combining two outfits into one post, formal and casual. I typically don't wear dress pants but a few weeks ago I was having dinner at Per Se in the Time Warner building (super delicious!) and was stuck uptown without proper attire and bought a whole new outfit in 25 minutes at the J.Crew they have in there. It felt as though I was on some game show where you make a mad dash for the grocery store products...or something :) Anyway, I love these pants! They're a nice cropped length, have a ton of stretch, and are definitely very versatile. Another staple item for the closet.

The vest was a score on eBay from a few years ago. It's a very thick and durable sequined vest, love to layer it with other clothes. The crystal earrings were also purchased from eBay.

Blazer - Zara
Vest - Vintage
Pants - J.Crew
Shoes - Yves St. Laurent
Earrings - Vintage
Bracelets - Cartier & Tiffany's

Are wide leg jeans out? Well if they are, I don't care because I love them. This is a "lazy outfit" and a slight nod to the soccer mom because the jeans are a bit high-rise, haha.

Top - Zara
Jeans - Uniqlo
Shoes - Miu Miu
Belt - Vintage
Bag - Chanel

Stress release cookies

The best way for me to work out any negativity is in the kitchen, and specifically baking. Something about the focus to details and precisely measuring ingredients relaxes me. Late one night over the weekend, I flung open my kitchen cabinets to see what I could scrounge up and came up with the ingredients for two different types of cookies that I love thanks to Food Network goddesses, Ina and Paula. White chocolate with cherries and chocolate white chocolate chunk cookies.

Paula's recipe: The only change I made was switching candied cherries for tart dried cherries. The super sweet white chocolate mixed in with a little sourness is sooo good. Also, I try to make sure that I get my hands on really good chocolate..it just makes life so much better.

Mini ice-cream scoop is the easiest way to scoop out dough.

Thank god for Silpat. They're reusable silicone baking sheets that nothing sticks to.

So chewy and and rich and chocolatey..perfection.

Blush

A simple outfit with a dash of extravagance from my costume jewelery necklace and studded pumps. I am obsessed with this salmon blush color which has been appearing more and more in stores due to the comeback of 70's fashion and it's softer color palette, which I prefer more than the hard 80's stuff that's been popular. Wearing my favorite t-shirt that says "je ne regrette rien" (I regret nothing) with Keith Richards mug.

The coat is an item I purchased a few years ago but didn't get much wear out of. I almost tried to sell it but I must have been crazy because the cut and fit is SO slim and flattering..it's a keeper for life!

Cardigan - J.Crew
Shirt - Alternative Apparel
Necklace - BCBG
Jeans - J Brand
Shoes - Prada
Coat - A.P.C.
Clutch - Louis Vuitton

R.I.P.

Your creativity and individualism will be greatly missed, McQueen.

This and that

Loooong time no update! I've been lazy since spring semester began and then I got an awful cold, which is actually still lingering, so I haven't really been in the mood to take photos and such. But here are a few goodies from the past few weeks: Chanel pearl necklace, those Charles Anastase inspired J.S. platforms (these are ridiculousssly tall! But comfortable), crystal snake ring, and NUTELLA POUND CAKE. I've made this twice within the past month because it's like crack, the recipe calls for tons of butter and a whole jar of Nutella.
