At the ripe age of 18, Alexander Wang moved to NY to attend Parsons School of Design having realized fashion design was his calling. Proving quite the prodigy, Wang designed his label's first collection by his sophomore year.
Having great experiences at internships including one at Marc Jacobs, Wang left Parsons to pursue his career full-time.
What's so unique about the DNA behind Wang's aesthetic is that he incorporates elements of street fashion and the imperfect. In fact, his philosophy is that a tee and jeans can be as stylish as a silk dress, which prompted him to launch the T by Alexander Wang line in 2009.
This diffusion line of comfortable, slouchy-sexy tees, tanks and jersey dresses help bring glamour to the everyday, truly living up to the chic in street-chic. The Classic Pocket Tank T by Alexander Wang dress is a prime example of a jersey maxi dress that transforms its wearer into a style maven in a snap.

Whether you would get something from T by Alexander Wang or an Alexander Wang clearance or regularly priced item, share which item is your favorite and why in the comments, also please leave your email address so I can contact you if you win! That's all it takes to enter for a chance to win a $100 Shopbop gift card. The winner will be chosen randomly. Contest ends June 1 at 11:59 PM PST.

Good luck, and also check out the designer sale items.

his ponte dress with sweatshirt tie overlay is my favorite, by far. the structure reminds me of something i'd see in a movie like blade runner, yet it looks so soft and comfortable. plus, i've got a soft spot for cutouts.
ReplyDeleteMy fave item is his Asymmetrical Khaki Skirt with leather details. In it, I would feel like Victoria Beckham, as long as I add some 5 inch stilettos. So edgy, it would remain in my closet forever. Thanks for the chance to win, good luck to everyone.

ReplyDeleteChristinarhaugen@gmail.com
I would by the Asymmetrical Romper. It's shape is unique, but not so much that it detracts from the female body. It's sexy but modest, imaginative yet classic.
ReplyDeletelenadeleo@yahoo.com
my favorite piece is the ponte dress with crisscross back. it's a great twist on the LBD and reminds me of "Hackers".

I adore the 'Khaki Corset Dress'. Such a beautiful, feminine, amazingly cut dress. A classic.
ReplyDeleteheatheranne99 at gmail dot com
the leather jacket with removable canvas skirt has got to be the best creation he's made thus far. it's equally edgy with the leather jacket and sweet sophisticated with the canvas skirt. and the best part of it is it is versatile that you could take off the skirt!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite piece from Alexander Wang at Shop Bop is the Burnout Cable Tunic. It is a piece that could take me through the seasons. Perfect for layering during the fall, or pairing it with a colored bra for summer. It also has just enough texture and pattern to allow for some amazing accessories as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Ponte dress would be perfect for summer night in the city.

without a doubt, i'd put the gift card towards the purchase of the diego bucket back. i'm OBSESSED!
ReplyDeletenicolettemason@gmail.com
If I had to choose and money wasn't an option? I'd definitely get one of Wang's Brenda Zip Chain Bags. Only, I'd get it in black. I like the silver hardware, and it's edgy without having to scream it. I also like the fact that it's practical as well; it's crossbody design allows me to go handsfree, always important in NY and it's small enough for it to be small to my three-pronged bag attack. I have a large Marc bag, a medium coach, and I think a small Wang would be fantastic.

the leather corset short! it doesn't get better with leather + corset tie + side zipper. it's going to be a great piece for summer nights and winter days with tights!
ReplyDeleteilovebutter.tumblr.com
drapey stretch sequin skirt. it looks like a fucking tulip and because legs are often referred to as stems, i find it perfect. it is so sexy and innocent at the same time. along with whimsical. YES. whimsical. i would pair it with something completely rough on top. like black and studs or zippers. and elegant gold jewelry. love it.
ReplyDeletechanlovesfolk@aol.com
I'd buy the cowl back cardigan in black. It's simple and clean, yet so sexy. I've lost a bit of weight recently and showing off my back is my new favorite thing! It's a great piece. I'd wear it through the day while at work, and then switch the cami underneath to bring me into date night.

What I really fantasize about is the Rocco mini duffel. In either black, white, or grey. I've even contemplated doing a DIY version of it, but I just can't find the right leather (pleather, if it's too expensive) for it...
ReplyDeleteI covet!
I LOVE the leather jacket with removable canvas skirt gahh it's just gorgeous. I like that you can wear both items together or separately as well.

ReplyDeletei absolutely love this tank dress with side slit. despite the bohemian vibe that celebrities seem to effortlessly emit, the long "maxidress" always looks so muumuu-y on me, even when i hem it and have it altered in other ways. I've seen this dress in person and it is absolutely the most perfect solution to my maxidress problems! and such a tall slit does not look trashy at all because its part of a whole floor length dress!

ReplyDeletejennijacobus@gmail.com
i really like the ponte dress with crisscross back!

ReplyDeletebguerrin@gmail.com
I would love the Rocco Mini Duffel. Although it may be a little trendy and not "timeless", I hope and think that in the future, although I would have to dress professional, this bag would still fit my personality and I would still be rockin it.

Khaki Corset Dress
ReplyDeletehttp://www.shopbop.com/khaki-corset-dress-alexander-wang/vp/v=1/845524441868312.htm?folderID=2534374302050950&fm=browse-brand-shopbysize-viewall
I am a sucker for a corset and asymmetrical hem. The grey and khaki tones compliment each other perfectly as do the differing shapes. When I'm tight and revealing on one portion of my body I like to contrast that with loose and soft with the rest of the ensemble. Corsets are typically overtly sexy but I think the sweet cap sleaves makes the outfit more appropriate for a wider range of events. The rope detailing is so intricate and unique. It looks so comfortable and sexy, two things I always hope to walk out the door feeling.
I would purchase the round sunglasses in shiny t-shell/antique gold. sunglasses are never outdated and they really help bring your look together.
ReplyDeleteherrocketcity@gmail.com
love to own the Slinky Pique Goddess Dress. it is really sexy without showing a lot of skin. and it looks perfectly tight without being too tight. the draping is amazing.
ReplyDeletejenniferh85@gmail.com
The asymmetrical romper is to die for! The perfect look for summer.
ReplyDeleteloveyouanyhow@gmail.com
i'd get the round sunglasses in shiny black because it fits the description of the perfect pair of sunglasses for me; big enough lenses to flatter my...big face, but with that classic rayban-esque shape- just more rounded, which i love. plus the little zipper detail is so cute. and i'd get it in black for obvious reasons; while i'd like to think i could pull off that awesome tortoise shell pattern, i know i would look dumb.

Hmmm tough tough choice since alexander wang is one of my favorite designers for practical and wearable pieces of clothing, but i would have to say either the men's silk layered shorts or the brenda mini camera bag in green.
ReplyDeletethe shorts look so comfortable, while still looking interesting and put together and fashion forward. They are like wearing beautiful fashionable boxers out :)

ReplyDeletejordan.macraep@gmail.com
I'm completely in love with the slinky Jersey Dress with Nude Combo. Not only is its drapey shape sexy, from afar it looks like an impossible neckline until you get close and see the nude fabric. I adore the open back and the super-high slit on the thigh too, but that nude fabric strap/backpiece is just killer!!

The Rocco mini duffel!!! The buttery black leather and gold studs can never do wrong in my eyes....sigh~*

Okay, I feel a little dorky admitting this, but the Brady Football Clutch is my guilty favorite. It reminds me of high school football games, sitting on the bleachers cheering for the home team (or at least that's how I idealize those games!). But, really, I think it'd be an amazingly fun, quirky clutch to carry especially when the seasons change to autumn.

It is so difficult to pick just one, but my absolute favorite right now is Alexander Wang's Rocco Mini Duffel with brass studs. I love it because it has a classic silhouette, yet the studs at the bottom are unique. It's just enough detail to add an edge to any outfit.

My favorite item is the Ponte Dress with Crisscross Back. I love the architectural vibe it has. It's just such a well thought through piece of garment / art. It's so minimal, modern and chic and to me that is what Alexander Wang personifies. The only thing a girl needs is a great jacket and a fabulous pair of boots/heels (like the ones provided in the picture) and she is set to go! The LBD, modernised. A staple item.
ReplyDeleteYou know my name and emailaddress :-)
PS I hope your exhibition went well! Congrats! I am looking forward to graduating myself next month.
My favorite item is the Suede Motorcycle Jacket with Detachable Sleeves. I think it's awesome because I would wear it with a frilly skirt, I love the look of mixing hard and soft. Plus the sleeves are detachable, so you could wear it two ways :)

No doubt- Sweatshirt Top with Crossover Back is totally hot. I bet i could even get away with wearing it to the office.
ReplyDeleteWith Alexander Wang being the fashion god he is, picking a favorite is not a simple task. However, upon placing my eyes on the Asymmetrical Romper, I became deeply saddened by the fact that I will never own such a magical garment of clothing. It's layers and layers of silky black fabric are just too good to be true. Alexander Wang has done it again.

After working through a boatload of insecurities I've realized that my body is beautiful and a unique canvas, inspiring me to wear fashion without it wearing me.
ReplyDeleteIn the spirit of this sentiment, Alexander Wang's Cowl Back Cardigan in Heather Grey is the perfect way for me to show off a bit of skin while feeling sexy and covered up at the same time. It'd be perfect over a vintage lace slip with black sandals or a pair of slim fit jeans and statement heels.
I'd be very grateful to have this in my wardrobe. Thanks for the opportunity!

I'm gravitating towards the Donna Hobo bag. Perfect for the summer when out and about, just throw it over your shoulder, you're good to go.

The Natasha Choked Pumps in leopard are such an interesting take on the classic pump. The leopard print is the perfect way to add spice to any outfit. I love all of Alexander Wang's designs but these are definitely my favorite.
