A study in sequins

I'm really excited about this jacket that I scored from Zara. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I LOVE SPARKLY THINGS. While shopping there with my friend Brian pulled this off the rack to show me and I totally swooned. It's a relaxed motorcycle jacket that's super comfortable and very cute. I'll probably take pictures of it without flash because these do no justice since the sequins are actually matte. The best part was the amazing price - only $80! So another disco piece for my closet :)

"Vintage" tshirt from Alternative Apparel, Acne jeans, Prada booties
Same tshirt, Zara jeans, Prada shoes

An outfit I put together a while back: Uniqlo trench, thrifted sequined sweater, JBrand jeans, Prada booties, Givenchy bag. I found that sweater for $16 from Beacon's Closet, it's pretty amazing because you can see me reflecting light from a mile away it's so damn shiny!

The famous Chanel sequined shorts from Spring 2007! I waited patiently for these babies and when I got the call that they arrived I dashed over to Chanel and couldn't believe I got my hands on them. HOWEVER, I returned them because the sequins did start to unravel in a few spots within the week that I got them so I didn't think it was worth the price tag. But looking back, despite how beautiful the shorts were I wouldn't have worn them that often. More likely would have framed them. Sorry my photos are a little sad, these two are the only ones I could find out of what I shot :/
Sigh.

Penthouse partying

I'm not feeling the least bit inclined to write about the shows since other websites already have great things to say :) I did go to Phillip Lim on Wednesday (spotted: Leighton Meester, the boring Lauren Conrad, Alexa Chung who was so effing cute, and Olivia Thirlby) and the after-party which was in the penthouse of the SoHo Grand. This was probably the best after-party I've been to because the penthouse was so cozy with a nice rooftop. It wasn't crowded/sweaty, and the dj was playing amazing music. Or maybe I had a lot of fun because I ended up getting pretty drunk and was able to rest my achey feet by laying on the king size beds. Either way it was a very good night.

Opening Ceremony blazer, Jovovich-Hawk romper, Miu Miu boots, J.Crew and vintage necklaces, Chanel Cerf tote.
I like what's going behind my head here.

I scored these Stella McCartney shoes for just $70! They are by no means comfortable whatsoever, but I love the gunmetal color and the mesh combination that I'll just grin and bear it.

Fashion's Drunk Night Out

Thursday was the epic Fashion's Night Out, a global event where most retail stores held parties and stayed open until 11 p.m. My friends and I went store hopping in SoHo (I was smart to wear comfy shoes) but mostly hung out at Phillip Lim. The night is a little blurry because the champagne kept flowing. I apologize for not having sufficient pictures!

Opening Ceremony blazer, Alexander Wang dress, H&M scarf, Opening Ceremony boots
this is in the stockroom after I used the bathroom, that's why it looks messy.

A tiny ice-cream truck was giving away free treats. I don't remember these things being so big..
Checking out the goodies at Prada

Mmm, booze.

It was a ridiculous fun night and I hope this is something they do every year to kick off Fashion Week!

Big gems & big cakes

My J.Crew obsession continued, some necklaces and earrings I purchased over the summer.

piled on with some vintage necklaces too.
I've been LOVING the amazing weather we've had so the other day my friend and I walked all over downtown browsing boutiques and ate some amazing food. We popped into Momofuku Bakery & Milk Bar for some sweets and shared a slice of the banana cake (banana cream, hazelnut crunch, gianduja fudge), the candy bar pie which has the same flavors of a Take 5 bar, and I took a compost cookie home.

the cake's are huuuuuuge!

A truly flattering photo, these were all really freaking delicious especially washed down with a bitter iced coffee.

Club Monaco blazer, Marion Mille top, Topshop jeans, Chanel watch, Marni flats, canvas bag found on Etsy.

Ended the night listening to jazz in Washington Sq. Park and dinner at Ippudo, but no pictures of the fantastic ramen :(
