DIY jeans and a new bag

I (like many other people I'm guessing) immediately bookmarked this woman's jeans from Jak & Jil and promised myself I would make myself a pair too but it's been a long time since I've committed to a craft project and actually completed it. Despite that, I ordered the studs online, they came in on Friday, and I sat down with a variety of tools (pliers ended up working best) and a glass of wine and studded for 2 1/2 hours straight while Food Network played in the background. Ta-da! Instead of light jeans I used this dark wash from Urban Outfitters and I think they look pretty good..and no they don't hurt when I sit down.

I also ordered dome studs just because they were so inexpensive and I'll see what I end up with :)

Speaking of studded things, how sick are these Givenchy gloves? You could wear these instead of brass knuckles to smash someones face in and I'm sure the damage would be so chic :P

I'm not that crazy about bags. Most of the time I wear my canvas tote bag that's cute but kinda dirty just because it's comfortable. I really love the simplicity of the YSL "Easy" bag, its good size (about 12" at the bottom), and the fact that the leather is supple but even if I scratch it the marks won't be so visible...basically a low maintenence bag that I can grab and go with. Also I needed a bag that wasn't black!

Acid trip

Not only do I not wear pink often, I just don't have a lot of color in my closet. However when I saw this See by Chloe dress I thought it was too crazy not too have. The explosion of prints is amazing and the fit is so comfortable although some people hate this muu-muu shape since they're unflattering but I happen to like them a lot! If I had a dog this is what I would throw on when I walked it. The sandals are Chloe from a few seasons ago (I know, I know..it's a faux pas to wear the same designer head to toe but whatever). It's going to be almost 90 degress this Sunday and I need a TAN.

New $3 red sunglasses I bought from a girl online.

Spring time and the prom frenzy begins..

When people come to my apartment and see my large collection of Teen Vogue's they always ask me why I read it assuming it's a teeny-bopper mag with advice on how to control menstrual cramps and 5 ways to deal with peer pressure. Yeah, it does have those articles but I don't read them, I just drool over the youthful and fresh styling that they show. I was flipping through the April issue which always has prom articles and once again I was not disappointed by the styling choices. This month's prom issue was a moody and slight grungy twist to the usually flirty and uber-feminine editorials that I've seen in the past.

April 2008
Probably one of favorite editorials EVER, from April 2007. Ali Michaels is so cute here.

My own senior prom dress was a gigantic poofy Betsey Johnson with layers of lace and tulle and a wide magenta sash at the waist. I had to pick it up from the store in New York and when I got off the bus and out of the subway I literally ran as fast as I could because the store was going to be closing in minutes. The dress was worth the effort, the prom night...not so much.

More granny-style floral prints

I love liberty prints! I still have yet to visit the new Topshop that opened up downtown but I ordered this corset on the website.

an outfit for the boots

Pink is my favorite color, but I never buy pink clothing because I don't find it flattering. However a few years ago I saw this chiffon Karl Lagerfeld dress with what looked like little sperms all over it and HAD to have it :)

Flower grungers!

Doc Martens always reminded me of clown shoes when I was younger, but when I first saw the ones with floral prints I just melted.
